LIVING WATERS PURCHASES LAND FOR

CHURCH BUILDING IN RARITAN TOWNSHIP

Living Waters Lutheran Church (LWLC) has finalized the purchase of land in its first step toward building a new church on the property. The land, a 7¾-acre field behind Dunkin’ Donuts on Rte. 514/Old York Rd. at Larison’s Corner in Raritan Township, will be the future home of Living Waters Lutheran Church. Groundbreaking for construction is expected to take place this fall.

Already 32 families strong, Living Waters knows that a place of worship, and a center for mission activities, is key to growing in faith. “We believe that the people of God are called to strive for justice and peace in all the world,” states Rev. Matthew Cimorelli, the pastor at LWLC. “And, while we’ve been doing that all along, a building will allow us to do even more and to be a real positive presence in the community.”

A very engaging part of the new building will be that LWLC plans to build “green,” i.e., environmentally responsible. Comments Pastor Cimorelli: “Christ’s call to love of our neighbors extends to all that God has made – people, the earth and all of God’s creatures. We want our presence on the property to be environmentally sound and to build as responsibly as we can, utilizing as much in the way of sustainable resources as possible.”

Living Waters will continue to meet throughout the summer at the East Amwell Municipal Building, at the corner of 202/31 So. and Wertsville Rd., at 9:30 a.m., for weekly services of Holy Communion, including a children’s sermon, and will occasionally hold events on the newly acquired property, including a dedication, annual community yard sale, and various youth events. “Our hope is to continue to be a strong contributor to our local community, as well as increasing our traditional Lutheran commitment to serve and comfort those in need,” says Pastor Cimorelli.
